Let’s Us Discern

Analyzing SCJ’s Intermediate Level Test: The Complete Doctrinal Framework Revealed

A Comprehensive Analysis Using “Testing Shincheonji’s Claims: Two Lenses, One Story”

Introduction: The Test That Reveals Everything

You’ve been studying with SCJ for months now. You’ve attended classes three times a week, met with your evangelist, participated in Q&A sessions, and done independent reading. You’ve been told you’re learning “deep truths” that other Christians don’t understand.

Now comes the Intermediate Level Test—25 questions that seem to test your biblical knowledge. But as you read through the questions and the expected answers, something becomes clear:

This isn’t just a test of biblical knowledge. It’s a test of doctrinal indoctrination.

Every answer points to the same conclusion: SCJ’s organization, led by Lee Man-hee (“the one who overcomes,” “New John,” “the promised pastor”), is the fulfillment of all biblical prophecy, and joining them is necessary for salvation.

This is the Intermediate Level Test, and it demonstrates what Chapter 13 of “Testing Shincheonji’s Claims: Two Lenses, One Story” calls “The Exclusive Claim”—the assertion that one organization, one leader, and one interpretation are the sole means of understanding God’s word and receiving salvation.

Let’s carefully examine this test, question by question, distinguishing biblical truth from organizational doctrine.

Part 1: The Eight-Step Formula – God’s Work Reduced to a Pattern

Question 1: Write the eight steps of the logical order of creation and re-creation.

SCJ’s Answer:

“Selection of a pastor → Creation of a kingdom → Covenant with the chosen people → Betrayal of the covenant by the chosen people and destruction → Selection of a new pastor → Judgment and salvation → Creation of a new kingdom → New covenant”

The Two Lenses Analysis:

What’s Biblical:

  • God calls leaders (Moses, David, Jesus, apostles)
  • God establishes covenants (Abraham, Moses, David, New Covenant)
  • God’s people sometimes fail (Israel’s exile, church’s struggles)
  • God brings judgment and salvation (throughout Scripture)
  • God promises renewal (new covenant, new creation)

What’s Uniquely SCJ:

  • The rigid eight-step formula applied to all of history
  • The implication that this pattern repeats exactly
  • The setup that we’re in step 5-8 now (selection of new pastor = Lee Man-hee)
  • The framework that reduces God’s complex work to a predictable formula
  • The equation: New pastor (Lee Man-hee) → New kingdom (SCJ) → New covenant (Revelation according to SCJ)

Biblical Refutation:

1. God’s Work Is Not a Rigid Formula:

Yes, we can observe patterns in Scripture—God calls, people respond or rebel, God judges and redeems. But reducing God’s work to an eight-step formula that repeats exactly is eisegesis (reading into Scripture) rather than exegesis (drawing out of Scripture).

Isaiah 55:8-9:

“‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.'”

God’s ways are higher than our formulas. He doesn’t work according to a predictable eight-step pattern we can chart.

2. The “Selection of a Pastor” Framework:

SCJ’s formula emphasizes “selection of a pastor” as the starting point. This sets up their claim that Lee Man-hee is the “new pastor” selected for this era.

But Scripture emphasizes:

Ephesians 4:11-13:

“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”

Christ gave (plural) pastors and teachers, not one singular “new pastor” for each era.

1 Peter 5:1-4:

“To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed: Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.”

Peter, an apostle, calls himself a “fellow elder” and speaks of multiple shepherds. He points to Jesus as the Chief Shepherd, not to one singular “new pastor.”

3. The “Creation of a New Kingdom” Claim:

The formula ends with “Creation of a new kingdom → New covenant,” implying that SCJ is this “new kingdom.”

But Scripture teaches:

Luke 17:20-21:

“Once, on being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, ‘The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, nor will people say, “Here it is,” or “There it is,” because the kingdom of God is in your midst.'”

The kingdom of God is not an observable organization you can point to and say, “Here it is.”

Colossians 1:13:

“For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves.”

“Has rescued… brought us” – Past tense. All believers are already in God’s kingdom.

Romans 14:17:

“For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”

The kingdom is characterized by righteousness, peace, and joy, not by organizational membership.

Part 2: The “12 Tribes” and “One Who Overcomes” Framework

Question 2: What kingdom is created according to the New Testament? What must happen for this kingdom to be created?

SCJ’s Answer:

“‘New Spiritual Israel’ Someone fights against and defeats Satan and his Nicolaitans. The 12 tribes are purchased with Jesus’ blood (Revelation 12; Revelation 7; Revelation 5)”

Question 3A-C: About overcoming, weapons, and enemies

SCJ’s Answers:

“The one who overcomes establishes the 12 tribes of Israel and receives all the promised blessings.” “The blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony (Revelation 12:11)” “The group of the dragon-Babylon’s beast with seven heads and ten horns”

The Two Lenses Analysis:

What’s Biblical:

  • All believers are called to overcome (1 John 5:4-5)
  • Revelation speaks of 12 tribes and 144,000 (Revelation 7)
  • Believers overcome by the blood of the Lamb (Revelation 12:11)
  • Satan and evil are real enemies (Ephesians 6:12)
  • All believers are spiritual Israel (Galatians 3:28-29)

What’s Uniquely SCJ:

  • The claim that “someone” (singular, Lee Man-hee) fights and defeats Satan
  • The equation: This person “establishes the 12 tribes” (SCJ’s organizational structure)
  • The implication that “the 12 tribes” are a specific organization, not all believers
  • The framework that there’s one special “overcomer” who creates the kingdom
  • The setup that Lee Man-hee is this overcomer who established SCJ as the “12 tribes”

Biblical Refutation:

We’ve addressed the “12 tribes” teaching extensively in previous analyses (Lessons 89-91), but let’s review the key points:

1. Who Are the “Overcomers”?

1 John 5:4-5:

“For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.”

“Everyone born of God overcomes.” “The one who believes… overcomes.”

All believers are overcomers, not just one special person.

Revelation 2-3 (Letters to the seven churches): Each letter ends with promises “to the one who overcomes” (singular in English, but addressing each believer in the churches).

Revelation 2:7:

“Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.”

“Whoever has ears” – This is addressed to all believers, not one special person.

2. Who Are the “12 Tribes” and “144,000”?

As Chapter 26, Part 10 of “Testing Shincheonji’s Claims: Two Lenses, One Story” explains, first-century Christians understood these numbers symbolically:

Revelation 7:4-8:

“Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel…”

12 tribes × 12,000 each = 144,000

  • 12 = God’s people (12 tribes of Israel, 12 apostles)
  • 1,000 = Completeness, a large number
  • 144,000 = The complete number of God’s people

Revelation 7:9 immediately follows:

“After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.”

The 144,000 (symbolic, complete number) = the great multitude (all believers).

All believers are “spiritual Israel”:

Galatians 3:28-29:

“There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

“All who belong to Christ” = Abraham’s seed, spiritual Israel.

3. The “One Who Overcomes Establishes the 12 Tribes” Claim:

This is the heart of SCJ’s doctrine: Lee Man-hee (“the one who overcomes”) established the “12 tribes” (SCJ’s organizational structure with 12 “tribe leaders”).

But this contradicts Scripture:

a) Jesus already defeated Satan:

Colossians 2:15:

“And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.”

Jesus already triumphed over Satan at the cross.

Hebrews 2:14:

“Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil.”

Jesus broke the devil’s power through His death.

1 John 3:8:

“The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.”

Jesus appeared to destroy the devil’s work. This is accomplished, not waiting for Lee Man-hee.

b) All believers are the “12 tribes”:

James 1:1:

“James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes scattered among the nations: Greetings.”

James addresses “the twelve tribes” – referring to all believers scattered throughout the world, not an organization in Korea.

1 Peter 2:9:

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

“You are” – All believers are God’s chosen people, holy nation.

Part 3: The Three Mountains Framework

Questions 18A-C: Mountains of betrayal, destruction, and salvation

SCJ’s Answers:

“Mountain of betrayal: The tabernacle of the seven golden lampstands (Revelation 13)” “Mountain of destruction: Babylon (Revelation 17)” “Mountain of salvation: Mt. Zion (Revelation 14)”

The Two Lenses Analysis:

What’s Biblical:

  • Mountains are used symbolically in Scripture (Mount Sinai, Mount Zion, etc.)
  • Babylon represents opposition to God (Revelation 17-18)
  • Mount Zion represents God’s people (Hebrews 12:22, Revelation 14:1)
  • The seven lampstands represent seven churches (Revelation 1:20)

What’s Uniquely SCJ:

  • The three-mountain framework as a rigid structure
  • The identification: “Tabernacle of seven lampstands” = specific organization that betrayed
  • The identification: “Babylon” = mainstream Christianity
  • The identification: “Mt. Zion” = SCJ’s organization
  • The framework that creates: Betrayers (other churches) → Destroyers (Babylon/mainstream Christianity) → Saviors (SCJ)

Biblical Refutation:

1. The “Tabernacle of Seven Lampstands” Claim:

Revelation 1:20:

“The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and of the seven golden lampstands is this: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.”

The seven lampstands = seven churches in Asia Minor (Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, Laodicea).

These were actual first-century churches facing real persecution and challenges. John wrote to encourage them.

SCJ claims:

  • The “tabernacle of seven lampstands” is a specific organization in Korea
  • This organization “betrayed” (led by someone who left and joined another group)
  • This is the “mountain of betrayal”

But this interpretation:

  1. Ignores the first-century context – The churches were real churches John knew
  2. Violates the “near” timeframe – Revelation 1:3 says “the time is near” for first-century readers
  3. Creates a convoluted allegory – Requiring knowledge of Korean religious history
  4. Misses the pastoral purpose – John was encouraging persecuted Christians, not predicting Korean organizations

2. The “Babylon = Mainstream Christianity” Claim:

SCJ teaches that “Babylon” in Revelation 17-18 represents mainstream Christianity, which they must “come out of” to join SCJ (“Mt. Zion”).

But let’s examine what “Babylon” represented to first-century Christians:

Revelation 17:5:

“The name written on her forehead was a mystery: babylon the great the mother of prostitutes and of the abominations of the earth.”

Revelation 17:9:

“This calls for a mind with wisdom. The seven heads are seven hills on which the woman sits.”

“Seven hills” – Rome was famously known as the city on seven hills.

Revelation 17:18:

“The woman you saw is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth.”

“The great city that rules over the kings” – In the first century, this was Rome.

For first-century Christians, “Babylon” represented:

  • Rome – The empire persecuting them
  • The oppressive system – Economic, political, religious pressure
  • The “new Babylon” – Just as historical Babylon destroyed the first Temple, Rome destroyed the second Temple (70 AD)

Revelation 18:4:

“Then I heard another voice from heaven say: ‘Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues.'”

For first-century Christians, “come out of her” meant:

  • Don’t participate in Rome’s idolatry
  • Don’t compromise with emperor worship
  • Stay faithful to Christ despite persecution

It did NOT mean: “Leave your church and join SCJ.”

3. The “Mt. Zion = SCJ” Claim:

Revelation 14:1:

“Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.”

SCJ claims: “Mt. Zion” is their organization, and the 144,000 are their members.

But Scripture teaches:

Hebrews 12:22-24:

“But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.”

“You have come to Mount Zion” – Present tense, all believers.

“Mount Zion” represents:

  • The heavenly Jerusalem – God’s eternal city
  • The church of the firstborn – All believers whose names are written in heaven
  • God’s presence – Where God dwells with His people

It is NOT:

  • A physical organization in Korea
  • An exclusive group you must join
  • Something separate from the universal church

Part 4: The “Promised Pastor” and “New John” Framework

Question 16: Who is the one who speaks on behalf mentioned in the New Testament?

SCJ’s Answer:

“The Counselor, the holy spirit, and the promised pastor New John”

Question 20: What does it mean to be taught by God at the second coming?

SCJ’s Answer:

“To be taught by the pastor, where God is at, who saw and heard the events of all the chapters of Revelation through Jesus and the angel (Revelation 3:12).”

The Two Lenses Analysis:

What’s Biblical:

  • Jesus promised the Holy Spirit as Counselor (John 14:16, 26)
  • The Holy Spirit teaches believers (John 14:26, 1 John 2:27)
  • John wrote Revelation based on what he saw (Revelation 1:1-2)
  • God teaches His people (Isaiah 54:13, John 6:45)

What’s Uniquely SCJ:

  • The equation: Counselor = holy spirit = “promised pastor New John” (Lee Man-hee)
  • The claim that one person “saw and heard the events of all the chapters of Revelation”
  • The framework that being “taught by God” = being taught by Lee Man-hee
  • The assertion that Lee Man-hee is “New John” who witnessed Revelation’s fulfillment

Biblical Refutation:

1. The Counselor/Holy Spirit:

John 14:16-17:

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.”

The Counselor is the Holy Spirit:

  • “Another advocate” – Like Jesus, but the Spirit
  • “The Spirit of truth” – Not a person, the Holy Spirit
  • “Lives with you and will be in you” – The Spirit dwells in all believers

John 14:26:

“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”

“The Advocate, the Holy Spirit” – Clearly identified as the Holy Spirit, not a person.

To claim the Counselor = Lee Man-hee is to:

  1. Contradict Jesus’ clear identification – “the Holy Spirit”
  2. Limit the Spirit’s work – To one person instead of all believers
  3. Elevate a human – To the role of the Holy Spirit

2. The “New John” Claim:

SCJ claims Lee Man-hee is “New John” who witnessed the fulfillment of Revelation in Korea in the 1980s.

But let’s examine what John actually wrote:

Revelation 1:1-3:

“The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.”

Key phrases:

  • “What must soon take place” – Imminent for first-century readers
  • “The time is near” – Not 2,000 years away
  • “Blessed is the one who reads… and hears it” – First-century Christians could understand it

John testified to what he saw. The book was written for first-century Christians facing:

  • Persecution under Rome
  • Pressure to worship the emperor
  • Economic hardship (couldn’t buy/sell without emperor’s mark)
  • The destruction of the Temple (70 AD)

To claim there’s a “New John” who witnessed Revelation’s fulfillment in 1984:

  1. Ignores that Revelation was written for first-century Christians who needed hope
  2. Contradicts John’s statement that “the time is near”
  3. Implies Revelation was useless for 1,900 years
  4. Creates dependency on one person’s interpretation

3. “Taught by God” = Taught by Lee Man-hee?

John 6:45:

“It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him comes to me.”

Jesus quotes Isaiah 54:13 and applies it to everyone who comes to Him.

“They will all be taught by God” means:

  • The Holy Spirit teaches all believers (John 14:26)
  • God’s word teaches all who read it (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
  • Jesus is the ultimate teacher (Matthew 23:8, 10)

It does NOT mean: “You must be taught by Lee Man-hee.”

1 John 2:27:

“As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.”

“You do not need anyone to teach you” – The Holy Spirit’s anointing teaches all believers.

Part 5: The “Resurrection” Redefinition

Question 19: What is the true Biblical meaning of resurrection?

SCJ’s Answer:

“Resurrection is when a dead spirit lives again through the word of the breath of life and is harvested from Babylon (Revelation 13, 17, and 18) to Mt. Zion (Revelation 14).”

The Two Lenses Analysis:

What’s Biblical:

  • Spiritual resurrection: being born again (John 3:3, Ephesians 2:1-5)
  • Physical resurrection: Jesus rose bodily (Luke 24:39, 1 Corinthians 15:3-8)
  • Future resurrection: believers will be raised (1 Corinthians 15:20-23, 1 Thessalonians 4:16)

What’s Uniquely SCJ:

  • The redefinition: resurrection = “harvested from Babylon to Mt. Zion”
  • The implication: resurrection = leaving your church and joining SCJ
  • The framework: spiritual death = being in “Babylon” (other churches)
  • The equation: resurrection = organizational transfer to SCJ

Biblical Refutation:

1. What Is Spiritual Resurrection?

Ephesians 2:1-5:

“As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.”

Spiritual resurrection:

  • “Dead in transgressions and sins” – Spiritual death before salvation
  • “Made us alive with Christ” – Spiritual resurrection at salvation
  • “By grace you have been saved” – Through faith, not organizational membership

Colossians 2:13:

“When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins.”

“God made you alive with Christ” – This happens at salvation for all believers.

2. What Is Physical Resurrection?

1 Corinthians 15:3-8:

“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.”

Jesus’ resurrection was physical:

  • “He was buried” – Physical death
  • “He was raised on the third day” – Physical resurrection
  • “He appeared” – Physical appearances to witnesses

Luke 24:39:

“Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”

Jesus proved His resurrection was physical – “Flesh and bones.”

3. What Is the Future Resurrection?

1 Corinthians 15:20-23:

“But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him.”

Future resurrection:

  • “Christ, the firstfruits” – Jesus rose first
  • “Then, when he comes, those who belong to him” – Believers will be raised at Christ’s return

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17:

“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.”

“The dead in Christ will rise” – Physical resurrection at Christ’s return.

4. The Dangerous Redefinition:

By redefining resurrection as “harvested from Babylon to Mt. Zion” (leaving your church to join SCJ), SCJ:

  1. Spiritualizes away the physical resurrection – Contradicts 1 Corinthians 15
  2. Makes salvation organizational – You must join SCJ to be “resurrected”
  3. Demonizes other churches – They’re “Babylon” (spiritual death)
  4. Creates false assurance – “I joined SCJ, so I’m resurrected”
  5. Misses the gospel – Resurrection is through Christ, not organizational transfer

John 11:25-26:

“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?'”

Jesus is the resurrection and the life. Not an organization.

Part 6: The Wedding Banquet Requirements

Question 24: What are the four requirements for participating in the wedding banquet?

SCJ’s Answer:

“The lamp, oil, wedding clothes, and being sealed (Psalm 119:105, Matthew 25, Matthew 22, Revelation 7)”

The Two Lenses Analysis:

What’s Biblical:

  • The parable of the ten virgins (Matthew 25:1-13) – Be prepared
  • The parable of the wedding banquet (Matthew 22:1-14) – Proper attire
  • Believers are sealed with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13)
  • God’s word is a lamp (Psalm 119:105)

What’s Uniquely SCJ:

  • The four-requirement framework as a checklist
  • The implication: lamp = their teaching, oil = their understanding
  • The implication: wedding clothes = organizational membership
  • The implication: being sealed = being in SCJ
  • The framework that creates works-based salvation through organizational requirements

Biblical Refutation:

1. The Parable of the Ten Virgins (Matthew 25:1-13):

Matthew 25:1-13:

“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps…”

The point of the parable:

  • Be prepared for Christ’s return
  • Stay watchful – “You do not know the day or the hour” (v. 13)
  • Have genuine faith (oil) not just outward profession (lamp)

The parable is NOT about:

  • Four specific requirements to check off
  • Joining a specific organization
  • Having the “right” interpretation of Revelation

2. The Parable of the Wedding Banquet (Matthew 22:1-14):

Matthew 22:11-14:

“But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. He asked, ‘How did you get in here without wedding clothes, friend?’ The man was speechless. Then the king told the attendants, ‘Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ For many are invited, but few are chosen.”

The point of the parable:

  • Respond to God’s invitation (the gospel)
  • Be clothed in righteousness (not your own, but Christ’s)
  • Don’t presume on grace – There’s a proper response to the invitation

The “wedding clothes” represent:

Isaiah 61:10:

“I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.”

“Garments of salvation… robe of his righteousness” – God’s righteousness, not ours.

Revelation 7:14:

“These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”

“Washed… in the blood of the Lamb” – Cleansed by Jesus’ blood, not organizational membership.

3. Being Sealed:

Ephesians 1:13-14:

“And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.”

“When you believed, you were marked… with a seal” – The Holy Spirit seals all believers at salvation.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22:

“Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.”

“Both us and you” – All believers are sealed.

Being sealed is:

  • God’s work at salvation
  • The Holy Spirit given to all believers
  • A guarantee of our inheritance

Being sealed is NOT:

  • Joining a specific organization
  • Meeting four requirements
  • Having the “right” interpretation

4. The Dangerous Checklist:

By creating a four-requirement checklist for the wedding banquet, SCJ:

  1. Transforms grace into works – You must meet requirements
  2. Creates anxiety – “Do I have all four? Am I prepared?”
  3. Establishes organizational necessity – The requirements are met through SCJ
  4. Misses the gospel – Salvation is by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9)

The biblical approach:

Ephesians 2:8-9:

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”

By grace, through faith. Not by meeting four organizational requirements.

Part 7: The Psychological Framework – Total Doctrinal Control

What This Test Reveals:

This intermediate test isn’t just assessing biblical knowledge. It’s testing doctrinal compliance with SCJ’s entire framework:

The Complete SCJ System:

  1. Eight-step formula – God’s work follows a predictable pattern (Question 1)
  2. One overcomer – Lee Man-hee defeated Satan and established the 12 tribes (Questions 2-3)
  3. Three mountains – Betrayers (other churches) → Destroyers (Babylon/Christianity) → Saviors (SCJ) (Question 18)
  4. Promised pastor – Lee Man-hee is “New John,” the Counselor, who witnessed Revelation (Questions 16, 20)
  5. Resurrection redefined – Leaving your church to join SCJ (Question 19)
  6. Wedding requirements – Four organizational requirements to meet (Question 24)
  7. Exclusive salvation – Only through SCJ can you be part of the “12 tribes” and enter God’s kingdom

The Cumulative Effect:

By the time students complete this test, they’ve been conditioned to believe:

  1. God’s work follows a formula – And we’re at the stage where Lee Man-hee is the “new pastor”
  2. One person defeated Satan – Lee Man-hee, not Jesus (or Jesus needs Lee Man-hee to complete it)
  3. Other churches are “Babylon” – Spiritual death, must “come out”
  4. SCJ is “Mt. Zion” – The only place of salvation
  5. Lee Man-hee is the Counselor/Holy Spirit’s representative – God’s spokesperson
  6. Resurrection = joining SCJ – Organizational transfer, not spiritual/physical resurrection
  7. Salvation requires organizational membership – Must meet requirements through SCJ

This creates:

  • Total dependency on the organization
  • Isolation from other Christians (“Babylon”)
  • Elevation of Lee Man-hee to a Christ-like role
  • Works-based salvation – Must meet requirements
  • Exclusive claims – Only SCJ has truth and salvation
  • Redefined biblical terms – Resurrection, sealing, kingdom, etc.

The Contrast with the Gospel:

SCJ’s System (Revealed in This Test):

  • Eight-step formula God follows
  • One overcomer (Lee Man-hee) establishes the kingdom
  • Three mountains: betrayers, destroyers, saviors (SCJ)
  • Promised pastor = Lee Man-hee
  • Resurrection = joining SCJ
  • Four requirements for salvation
  • Exclusive organizational salvation

The Biblical Gospel:

  • God’s ways are higher than our formulas (Isaiah 55:8-9)
  • All believers overcome through faith (1 John 5:4-5)
  • All believers are God’s people, not divided into mountains (1 Peter 2:9)
  • The Holy Spirit is the Counselor (John 14:26)
  • Resurrection = spiritual (salvation) and physical (future) (Ephesians 2:1-5, 1 Corinthians 15:20-23)
  • Salvation by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9)
  • Universal gospel for all who believe (John 3:16)

Part 8: Testing the Test – Questions to Ask

As Chapter 27 of “Testing Shincheonji’s Claims: Two Lenses, One Story” emphasizes, “Your Investigation Begins” with asking good questions:

About the Eight-Step Formula:

  1. If Isaiah 55:8-9 says God’s ways are “higher than your ways,” can we reduce His work to an eight-step formula?
  2. If this formula repeats in every era, where is the biblical evidence for this exact pattern?
  3. If “selection of a pastor” is step 1, why does Ephesians 4:11 speak of multiple pastors and teachers?

About the “One Who Overcomes”:

  1. If 1 John 5:4-5 says “everyone born of God overcomes,” how is there one special “overcomer”?
  2. If Colossians 2:15 says Jesus “triumphed over” powers and authorities at the cross, didn’t Jesus already defeat Satan?
  3. If the “12 tribes” are a specific organization, why does James 1:1 address “the twelve tribes scattered among the nations”?

About the Three Mountains:

  1. If Revelation 1:20 says the seven lampstands are seven churches in Asia Minor, how are they an organization in Korea?
  2. If “Babylon” represented Rome for first-century Christians, why reinterpret it as mainstream Christianity?
  3. If Hebrews 12:22 says “you have come to Mount Zion” (present tense), isn’t this all believers, not one organization?

About the “Promised Pastor”:

  1. If John 14:26 clearly identifies the Counselor as “the Holy Spirit,” how can it be a person?
  2. If Revelation 1:3 says “the time is near” for first-century readers, why would there be a “New John” in 1984?
  3. If 1 John 2:27 says believers “do not need anyone to teach you,” why is one person necessary?

About Resurrection:

  1. If Luke 24:39 shows Jesus’ resurrection was physical (“flesh and bones”), how can resurrection be organizational transfer?
  2. If 1 Corinthians 15:20-23 speaks of future physical resurrection, why redefine it as joining SCJ?
  3. If Ephesians 2:1-5 says spiritual resurrection happens at salvation, how is it joining an organization?

Conclusion: The Gospel vs. The System

This Intermediate Level Test reveals SCJ’s complete doctrinal system—a system that:

  • Reduces God’s work to a formula
  • Elevates one person to a Christ-like role
  • Demonizes other churches as “Babylon”
  • Redefines biblical terms to fit organizational goals
  • Creates works-based, organizational salvation
  • Makes exclusive claims to truth and salvation

But the gospel is:

Simple:

John 3:16:

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Whoever believes. Not “whoever joins the right organization.”

By Grace:

Ephesians 2:8-9:

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”

By grace through faith. Not by meeting four requirements or joining an organization.

For All:

Romans 10:13:

“For, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'”

Everyone who calls. Not just those in one organization.

Complete in Christ:

Colossians 2:10:

“And in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.”

Fullness in Christ. Not in organizational membership.

For Those Taking This Test:

If you’re being asked to memorize and affirm these answers:

  1. Compare each answer to Scripture – Does it align with the Bible’s teaching?
  2. Ask questions – Why is this the “right” answer? Where is the biblical support?
  3. Test the claims – Does this create organizational dependency or point to Christ?
  4. Consider the implications – If these answers are true, what does that mean for all Christians throughout history?
  5. Pray for discernment – Ask God to show you truth (James 1:5)
  6. Remember – Salvation is by grace through faith in Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8-9)

If the “right” answers on this test:

  • Elevate one person to a unique role
  • Demonize other churches
  • Create organizational requirements for salvation
  • Redefine biblical terms to fit one group’s framework

These are warning signs.

1 John 4:1:

“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

Test everything. Even—especially—when it’s presented as the “right answer” on a test.

For Family and Friends:

If someone you love is taking this test and affirming these answers:

  1. Gently ask questions – “Can you show me in the Bible where it says…?”
  2. Point to Scripture – Share verses that contradict the test answers
  3. Emphasize the gospel – Salvation is by grace through faith, not organizational membership
  4. Pray – For truth to break through the indoctrination
  5. Be patient – Deprogramming takes time
  6. Provide resources – Share materials like “Testing Shincheonji’s Claims: Two Lenses, One Story”

Chapter 28 of “Testing Shincheonji’s Claims: Two Lenses, One Story” provides detailed guidance for “Hope and Help – Guidance for Members, Families, Christians, and Pastors.”

Final Thoughts:

This test isn’t about biblical knowledge. It’s about doctrinal compliance.

The “right” answers aren’t drawn from Scripture. They’re drawn from SCJ’s system—a system that:

  • Makes God’s work predictable
  • Elevates a human leader
  • Demonizes other believers
  • Redefines biblical terms
  • Creates organizational salvation

But the gospel is:

Acts 16:30-31:

“He then brought them out and asked, ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’ They replied, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.'”

“What must I do to be saved?” “Believe in the Lord Jesus.”

Not:

  • Learn the eight-step formula
  • Affirm that Lee Man-hee is the overcomer
  • Leave “Babylon” and join “Mt. Zion” (SCJ)
  • Recognize the “promised pastor”
  • Meet four requirements
  • Pass a doctrinal test

Just: “Believe in the Lord Jesus.”

That’s the gospel.

By grace.

Through faith.

In Christ alone.

That’s the gospel.
