JTBC reported yesterday that Shincheonji’s chairman, Lee Man-hee, had his vehicle convoyed and traffic controlled as if he were a president under security protection.
Following that report, we will now show you a video confirming how this security was actually carried out.
This is an exclusive report by reporter Lee Ho-jin.
‘Lee Man-hee’s vehicle must never stop’—this is the internal security principle of Shincheonji that was reported by JTBC yesterday.
Lee Man-hee initially paid for police protection in the Philippines, and he wanted the same service domestically.
We obtained footage showing these scenes.
Vehicles with red and blue emergency lights were stationed at the front of the convoy.

Behind them, more than a dozen luxury cars followed in a line.

Former Shincheonji Executive: “The procession can’t get disorganized because (Lee Man-hee) dislikes that. It has to look impressive.”
The people in these luxury cars were not foreign dignitaries or important figures. They were all Shincheonji executives.

Former Lee Man-hee bodyguard: “We recruit the best convoy drivers with quick judgment from each church. They are people with firm faith and fast decision-making abilities, and we train them extensively.”
According to the Road Traffic Act, emergency lights can only be mounted on emergency vehicles, such as police cars.

If mounted on regular cars, it’s illegal.
Blocking roads and controlling traffic are also illegal actions.
Former Lee Man-hee bodyguard: “They use emergency lights, and the people inside wear suits and sunglasses, making them look intimidating. People can’t approach. It’s like when a president or prime minister passes by…”
Shincheonji didn’t care about the law, and they didn’t mind paying fines or penalties when they occurred.
Former Lee Man-hee bodyguard: “If they go out on their schedule, they get fined 500,000 KRW per car. They just pay the fine.”

Lee Man-hee is known to have used these security measures regularly or even used rented helicopters for his travels.

In addition, JTBC investigated and found that many absurd and unlawful actions occurred within Shincheonji, often surpassing current laws.
A close aide to Chairman Lee Man-hee, who was once a major figure(second-in-command) in Shincheonji, was caught in messages and testimonies urging violence against a member who raised concerns. He even instructed hiring illegal immigrants(undocumented immigrant) to deal with the person.

Reporter Lee Ho-jn continues with this investigation.
The stadium is filled with people.
These are all Shincheonji members.
The scene is from one of Shincheonji’s major events, the “100,000 Graduation Ceremony.”
Goh, a former general manager of Shincheonji, prays before the appearance of Chairman Lee Man-hee. Goh was called the second-in-command in Shincheonji.

Goh had been in charge of the General Manager’s position, and after the arrest of Chairman Lee, Goh took the reins of Shincheonji.
However, since 2021, allegations of sexual assault and embezzlement were raised against Goh within Shincheonji.
Due to the negative public sentiment in September 2023, Goh gathered seven bodyguards to protect Lee Man-hee, a group called the 7 Lions.

(Note: 7 Lions may refer to “messengers” or “lions,” as the term has a double meaning in Korean.)
Former Lee Man-hee bodyguard: “We can’t just leave this person (the one raising issues) alone. We need to harm them somehow. Is there anyone among you who is brave enough?”

“This part raises suspicions that Goh may have ordered Lee Man-hee’s subordinates to commit violence against a particular member who had raised concerns.”
Former Lee Man-hee bodyguard: “Can we hire illegal immigrants to carry out the task? We could trail them and harm them.”

Hiring illegal immigrants to commit violence would clearly be a criminal act.
JTBC obtained and examined the messages exchanged between these 7 Lions, which included inquiries about the cost of hiring gangsters and requests to keep the matter quiet.

They even pressured the group to carry out the task quickly.
Former Lee Man-hee bodyguard: “Goh must have been personally angry, and since he couldn’t do it himself, he got these (bodyguards), who are mostly in their 20s or early 30s, to do it.”

Goh, who attempted to suppress public opinion through violence, was expelled from Shincheonji the following year after the embezzlement issues worsened.
The attempted violence was thwarted.
The reporters made several attempts to contact Goh to hear his side of the story, but were unable to reach him.
A full investigation is ongoing, and video sources are listed below.

In addition, we at JTBC have also reported that there have been frequent instances of absurd behavior within Shincheonji that go beyond the current law. We have also obtained messages and testimonies from a person who was a close associate of General Chairman Lee Man-hee asking for the beating of a believer who raised an issue with him, and there were even instructions to hire illegal foreign residents to take care of the situation.
We continue with reporter Lee Ho-jin’s exclusive report.
[Reporter]
These people who filled the stadium are all Shincheonji believers.
A scene of clapping and singing.
It is the so-called 100,000 graduation ceremony, a big event of Shincheonji.
[Ms. Ko/former Shincheonji General Assembly Secretary: We are holding the 113th graduation ceremony for the promised shepherd and the 12 tribes of Shincheonji members…]
A person praying just before General Assembly Chairman Lee appears.
This is Mr. Ko, who is called the number two person in Shincheonji.
He held the position of General Assembly Secretary and led Shincheonji when General Assembly Chairman Lee was arrested.
Since 2021, Mr. Ko has been suspected of sexual violence and embezzlement within Shincheonji. In
September 2023, when public opinion worsened, Mr. Ko called in the 7 bodyguards who closely guarded Man-hee Lee.
They are the so-called ‘7 lions’ of Shincheonji.
[Former bodyguard of Man-hee Lee: We cannot leave this person (the person who raised the issue) alone. So we have to do something to harm them. Is there anyone among you who has the courage?]
This is the part where it is suspected that he ordered a specific believer who raised an issue about him to be terrorized.
[Former bodyguard of Man-hee Lee: Can you hire foreigners to do the job for us? We will tail them and cause harm. There are many illegal aliens among the OOO kids, OO and OOO.]
If he asked them to hire foreign illegal aliens to assault him, it is a clear crime.
JTBC obtained and examined the text messages exchanged between the seven messengers at the time.
They ask about the cost of hiring gangsters and ask them to quietly find out.
There is also an exchange of demands about how long it will be possible.
[Former bodyguard of Man-hee Lee: (Mr. Ko) must have been upset personally because he did something he couldn’t do. These guys are all in their 20s, 30s, mid-20s, or early 30s at most. But they called those kids and made them do that.]
Mr. Ko, who tried to silence public opinion with physical force, was expelled from Shincheonji the following year as embezzlement issues grew.
The terrorist attempt was thwarted.
The reporting team tried to contact Mr. Ko several times to hear his side of the story, but was unable to reach him.
It is still unclear exactly what happened and how much happened within this religious group.

If the court finds Shincheonji guilty—especially if it’s confirmed that Ko Jae-hong ordered an assault using undocumented immigrants—it would be a serious crime under Korean law. This would fall under criminal solicitation and conspiracy to commit assault, both punishable by imprisonment.
If higher leadership is found complicit or engaged in a cover-up, Shincheonji could face organizational penalties, including heavy fines or loss of legal status.
Here’s how Shincheonji typically handles damage control:
-
Expel and disown the individual (Ko Jae-hong has already been removed).
-
Release a vague public statement, e.g., “his actions do not reflect the values of Shincheonji.”
-
Spin it internally as persecution, painting Lee Man-hee as a misunderstood “Promised Pastor.”
-
Launch large PR events (like the “100,000 Graduation”) to flood media channels.
-
Instruct members to ignore outside news and label critics as enemies trying to stop God’s work.
It’s the same pattern seen during COVID: deny, deflect, spiritualize, and reframe criticism as satanic persecution.
Unless victims press charges or authorities take strong legal action, Shincheonji will likely survive this by controlling the internal and external narrative.

Wow… and yet Jesus rode into Jerusalem on the back of a borrowed donkey.

What the hell. Hypocrisy at its highest, especially when you remember how they told us about the persecution Lee Man-hee supposedly endured at Tabernacle Temple.
I’m just glad it didn’t escalate further. Shincheonji probably knows better now—considering the new yearly slogan and how they’ve tried to distance themselves from politics after President Yoon’s coup.
