Regarding the sexual harassment and illegal facts of Goh Dong-ahn, the general manager of the General Assembly of the Shincheonji

Warning: Triggering Information – Sexual Harassment / Sexual Assault
Testimony:
Hello. I am A, a young adult from Yangjae, Gwacheon Church of the John tribe. With a very frustrated and painful heart, I have gathered the courage to write this testimony in the hope that no more victims suffer.
Background of Meeting General Manager G (Goh Dong-ahn):
-
On the morning of March 5th, General Manager G requested the young adult department leader that he needed a sister (a female colleague) to act as his wife so that he could “cover the reporters’ eyes” when he went around alone.
-
They first sent a woman designated as B; however, he claimed that her appearance (wearing a black jacket) looked suspicious and requested a taller sister instead. I was then sent.
-
When General Manager G came out of his house, he instructed me to cross his arms and pretend to be his wife. After meeting the chairman, he took my hand and slipped it into his jacket pocket.
-
We then walked for about 10 minutes from the chairman’s house to the Indeokwon accommodation. During our conversation, he asked if I was a lone believer and how long I had been one, mentioning that reporters would be watching. Later, he expressed that he was glad I came in place of Sister B and that he likes pretty women.
Subsequent Events & Conversations:
-
At Indeokwon Accommodation & Starbucks:
The next day, he asked me to come to the Indeokwon accommodation; however, due to a delay in the chairman’s schedule, we went for coffee at a nearby Starbucks. During that conversation, he shared that he had no friends to talk to because of his duty as general manager, asked about the status of the young adult group, and spoke of the hard work at the headquarters. He thanked me for my help and mentioned his desire to buy me a delicious dinner later. -
Trip to Goseong:
After the chairman left for Goseong, General Manager G accompanied me to Goseong. At a café near the boating area—where thankfully no reporters were in sight—we talked. He said things like:-
“SSN (Lee Man-hee) relies on me too much. SSN claims that the Daegu-Corona mass infection was moved from Seoul, but that doesn’t make sense.”
-
“SSN keeps trying to go to war with C (name covered), but I’m the only one who can stop him.”
-
“SSN only talks about his hardships, but it’s too hard for me not to pretend to be hard on anyone.”
-
He even suggested that if he admitted everything was his fault and jumped off (committed suicide), the situation might be over.
-
At one point, when I told him I would go to prison instead of the teacher, his expression changed—he said he really liked that.
-
He mentioned that he searched daily about prison life, that it comforted him that I was his friend, and even joked about studying together with the Bible and getting SSN’s autograph.
-
-
Meal and Luxurious Spending:
On our way back, he insisted that we have lunch at a place where he wouldn’t be seen in public. We ended up at Hanam Starfield (a mall) and he warned me not to mention our lunch to the Young Adult leader or anyone else.
He often expressed that the chairman would be endangered if his activities were revealed and even told me not to inform my husband, claiming he couldn’t trust anyone.
Later that day, after dinner, we visited a shoe store where he purchased a pair of shoes worth about 1 million won (~783 USD) in cash. He even offered to buy a pair for me—though I refused.
He frequently asked about my financial situation, knowing both my husband and I worked full time, and repeatedly offered to purchase expensive clothing for me, which I declined.
I was shocked by how expensive everything was—from meals to clothing—and learned that while young adults usually get reimbursed a few thousand won per meal, the headquarters executives regularly dined on full-course meals costing over 100,000 won (~78 USD) per person and even spent over 1 million won (~783 USD) on a single meal. He recharged his transportation card with 1 million won in cash at one time.
He even booked private rooms at luxurious restaurants, and once said he would buy me a cell phone with the pocket money he received from the chairman. When I refused to let him buy the phone (insisting the money be used for God’s work), he repeatedly remarked on the broken screen of my phone. -
Hotel Stay in Incheon:
One day, when I had to go to Incheon, he offered me a ride. Tired of the Indeokwon dormitory and suspicious of the environment, he mentioned he had secured an 80-pyeong lodging near Eurwang-ri Beach in Incheon for fresh air.
Although I planned to take a bus after work, he insisted we eat together—choosing a hotel restaurant over a nearby eatery (to avoid public attention).
At the hotel, he explained:“Let’s do as I say. I’ll order room service, have dinner, and call a taxi. I’m so tired today that I’m going to sleep in the hotel. I don’t know who’s following me, so just hold my hand and come in.”
When I questioned “Hotel?”, he replied, “What are you thinking? I’ve been going to the 12 tribes since I was a Theology Department leader, and I’ve always stayed in hotels. Besides, hotels are safer than restaurants during COVID-19.”
The food cost around 200,000 won (~156 USD) per meal, and the room cost was over 1.2 million won (~939 USD) per night. -
Secret Chat & Additional Communication:
After dinner, as I was about to go home, he insisted I stay. He arranged for a taxi, giving me 50,000 won (~39 USD) in cash, and told me not to disclose our conversation or save our public Telegram messages, claiming it could be seen as misleading. In our secret chat, our conversation veered away from “God’s work”—he asked about my day, what I was studying, and expressed that it was good to have a friend. Although I sensed his loneliness and excessive interest, I initially dismissed it as simple kindness because both he and I are married with children. -
Trip to Daejeon:
On March 11th, when he went to Daejeon to meet tribe leaders, he insisted I accompany him, warning that reporters and opponents might appear and that it was dangerous. I waited at a café while he met with the tribe leaders.
Incident of Sexual Assault:
-
At the Hotel (Late March):
Around the end of March, he mentioned there were confidential documents for the prosecution’s investigation that needed to be memorized and suggested we study at a hotel. After a phone conversation, he approached me and said, “What kind of man would remain still when there’s a pretty girl? This is because you’re so pretty.”
He then attempted to remove my clothes by saying, “It’s your fault, I’ll bother you until you do. Once, once.” When I resisted, he tickled and forcibly held me—as if playing a prank—unzipping the back of my dress. Later, he untied the laces of my underwear and tried to pull down my stockings.
I was shocked and terrified. I pushed him away, grew angry, and started crying. When I cried, he asked why and said, “I think I was crazy. It’s because you’re so pretty. I won’t do it,” and then attempted to hug me. After another struggle, he apologized, and I managed to leave the hotel. -
Aftermath & Further Coercion:
The general manager later said he would have done something to me long ago if he were a “weirdo.” Despite the assault, he rationalized his actions by claiming he cared for and loved me and even swore to God about his feelings. At one point, he brought up a discussion involving SSN (Lee Man-hee), saying that SSN had never loved his wife and asking, “What would you do if SSN loved Kim Nam-hee?” He further justified his behavior by saying things like “Let’s study together; I’ll teach your father, so let’s evangelize.”
Even while receiving a phone call from the chairman in the car, he casually put his hand on my shoulder, winked, and fiddled with my hand, all while speaking with the chairman. His nonchalant behavior made me angry as I felt he was deceiving the SSN.
Additional Details – Threats and Coercion:
-
He repeatedly used phrases to arouse sympathy, such as:
“Wouldn’t this situation be over if I jump off after admitting that everything was my fault?”
“I protected you even when I went to the hotel. How much would I have loved you? Don’t you think this is easy?” -
He threatened, “I will expel you from SCJ,” and frequently instructed me not to tell anyone—including my husband—about our meetings, claiming that doing so would endanger the chairman.
-
In one instance, he offered to buy me a cell phone using the pocket money from the chairman, insisting on going to the cellphone store despite my refusals.
-
Later, he arranged for secret chats to discuss “work” and other matters, though our conversation veered into personal and non–work-related topics.
Incident During a Hotel Stay:
-
When I was leaving after a meal, he suddenly said he was having a difficult time and asked that I not go home that night. Although I found it odd, I agreed due to his position as general manager.
-
During a taxi ride he arranged for me, he gave me cash and again told me not to reveal our conversation.
-
Shortly afterward, he took me to a luxury hotel. Once inside, he ordered room service and insisted we stay together as he claimed he couldn’t sleep because of the ongoing prosecution investigation.
-
While in the hotel, as I attempted to leave, he physically took my shoes, bag, and even my clothes, hiding them. He remarked, “Do you know how hard it is to put up with sex as a man? I am not the same person as [name covered]. I really care for you and love you.” He attempted to remove my clothes and said he would go buy condoms, but I stubbornly refused.
-
Even after that night, he repeatedly called me and, when I refused further meetings, sent dozens of texts insisting he would wait until I relented.
-
He would later justify his actions by discussing the subject of Kim Nam-hee with SSN, asserting that the teacher was having a hard time with Mrs. Kim, and urging me to “study together” and “evangelize.”
Physical Contact While in Transit:
-
During a phone call with the chairman while riding in a car, he casually put his hand on my shoulder, winked, and told me to be quiet as I pushed his hand away. I felt deceived by his behavior while he smiled and spoke with the chairman.
Statement by the Affiant (Guide):
-
I, as a guide who counseled the victims, state only the facts I witnessed and heard.
-
The victim is currently under severe stress and extreme fear of this incident being exposed, which has led her to seek psychological counseling. Please protect her identity and do not expose her personal details.
-
The victim has a selfless, kind, and pure character; however, due to childhood trauma and a fear of intimidation, she has low self-esteem and finds it difficult to express her feelings.
-
Case Summary:
– The victim, managed by the Human Rights Association for Victims of Coercive Conversion Programs (HAC), was sexually assaulted multiple times by a leader of HAS (name covered).
– President Park exploited the sisters’ inability to stand up to authority, committing repeated atrocities.
– The victim eventually confessed her ordeal to me. Under my persuasion, she met with General Manager Goh Dong-ahn and informed him of the assaults.
– The general manager promised her protection, stating he would inform no one except the chairman, and even took steps such as firing an implicated CEO to protect her.
– Despite these promises, he continued to contact her and arrange meetings—even in circumstances designed to isolate her further.
– He used lavish spending, secret chats, and repeated threats to control her.
– I have recorded evidence of his calls and conversations. I earnestly ask that you review all the evidence to reveal the truth and punish such evil deeds so they do not recur in Shincheonji.

“Why gossip? No matter who it’s directed to—SCJ or not—that is simply not nice. Isn’t this how Jesus taught his disciples to act? Even when Jesus confronted the Pharisees and chief priests, he did not encourage them to slander others. The work of the Spirit is about joy and love. Let’s practice kindness and respect toward everyone, as our spiritual teacher would want us to.”
Comment by coinisft (OP):
“I apologize for the delayed response. I was writing about what LMH threatened a SCJ member (as reflected in the court judgment). ‘Ye shall do no unrighteousness’—I’m sure you’ve encountered many Bible verses warning us against being complicit in injustice. From a human perspective, the conduct of LMH and SCJ’s leadership is highly immoral and reprehensible. I have recordings, training materials, and internal documents exposing these behaviors. I will be uploading more videos and materials in the future.”
Comment by RedPilledSojourner:
“Gossip is no longer gossip when evidence is presented. If you think this is just idle chatter, show your evidence to prove otherwise. Criticizing an organization’s corruptions is the business of its former and current members. If you say ‘it’s none of your business,’ that’s just another way of saying you don’t want the truth spoken.”
Comment by Amphoo (Edited):
“Gossip means casual or unconstrained conversation about others. Many disputes arise from different interpretations of this word. If someone commits financial crimes, they must face the consequences. The courts will handle it, so let’s not shy away from discussing these issues.”
Comment by lam-29:
“Isn’t it SCJ itself that reports on both members and non-members without their consent, discussing their personal lives and planning behind their backs? In my experience, SCJ leaders are the worst gossips I’ve ever encountered. This is public news—fighting for justice for victims of sexual abuse. Don’t try to silence these stories; that’s not the side of history you want to be on.”
Comment by QuestionsAboutSCJ (Moderator):
“So basically any form of criticism against SCJ is labeled as ‘slander’ or ‘gossip’? Jesus openly condemned the Pharisees for their hypocrisy. Consider how SCJ disparages pastors behind their backs—calling them names like ‘Babylon’ or ‘Married to the Devil.’ The irony is striking.”
Comment by Otherwise-Water1721 (EX-Shincheonji Member):
“It really sickens me how much embezzlement happens in SCJ and how the leaders abuse members. I was a translator at the 1st Warp Summit in Seoul. While I and hundreds of other translators slept on cold, hard floors with barely any food, LMH and other leaders enjoyed gourmet meals and luxurious accommodations. This is just one example of how young adults and other members are exploited and enslaved in SCJ.”
Comment by Mochi__Bread:
“If an SCJ member has to expose this terrible behavior to the public, it speaks volumes about how untrustworthy and incompetent SCJ HQ is in protecting its members. I pray that she and many other victims find healing through therapy and counseling—and eventually decide to leave SCJ. Good job exposing these lies!”
Comment by coinisft (OP):
“I also hope that the victims can make a full recovery.”
Comment by anCTOnGL:
“To u/Ghiglosnorf, u/Constant-Trash-4585, and other SCJ lurkers—this disgusting behavior by SCJ, documented here, adds more evidence for your critical analysis. I believe you’re capable of nuanced thinking.”
Comment by coinisft (OP):
“Yes, these behaviors are disgusting, and there is still plenty more that has yet to be translated. I hope SCJ lurkers will think critically about this.”
Comment by Leading_Orange_7101:
“Public announcement: there are around 6,000 SCJ lurkers here.”
Comment by Pink_Samwise_Gamgee:
“That many? I only see about 2,300 subscribers in the subreddit… Do they just watch but not subscribe?”
Comment by Mochi__Bread:
“Many don’t subscribe. Some have reached out to me as leaders or members who wanted to leave.”
Comment by Leading_Orange_7101:
“Don’t forget anonymous browsing—SCJ lurkers don’t even need an account.”
