What fear tactics does scj use and how?
general thought and question
What tactics do they use to manipulate members, scare them to not question, and keep them from leaving exactly?

Basically, leaving SCJ is eternal damnation. Researching on the internet is like eating the forbidden fruit (poison/spiritual death). You have to remember that this is a gradual process of indoctrination and deception. It is drilled into SCJ members daily—with the message “do not betray”—no matter what. It becomes a slow creep where you isolate yourself from everyone except SCJ; even if you realize something is off, there is no one you can talk to. Under constant duress and sleep deprivation, you cannot think straight and are truly confused. (The Telegram app beeps with messages at all hours, demanding an immediate response.) You are gripped with fear that if you leave SCJ, you will be forever cut off from God, so you stay even though you feel like you’re going to have a nervous breakdown.
If you happen to have a family gathering or holiday where you’ll be with people outside of SCJ, they inundate you with a very heavy workload (speeches, emergency meetings, sealing exams, trainings) to keep your mind controlled.

That’s horrible. Is there also a fear that you aren’t enough—that you may do everything right yet still not be saved? My brother is a part of it, and he would cry every night over the Bible as if he’s not good enough. Is that common?

Definitely. You’re only saved when you’re one of the 144,000 sealed preasts, and for that, you must achieve any of the unreasonable goals set—never knowing when it might be the last one. You can only prove yourself until God says stop. (Even though there was already a stop in all activities due to COVID-19, I’m not sure if that is still preached, but it’s ingrained in many ways.)
