Shincheonji’s Fulfillment of Revelation Chapters 2 – 3
Jesus instructs John to write His observations in a letter addressed to the seven churches in Asia Minor. These letters contain specific messages tailored to each church’s circumstances, spiritual state, and challenges.
Main Points of the Letters
To Repent
- Acknowledge shortcomings and turn away from sin to align with God’s will.
- Emphasis on spiritual renewal and returning to the original faith and works
To Fight the Enemy and Overcome
- Stand firm against false teachings, persecution, and spiritual complacency.
- Overcoming is central to demonstrating faithfulness to Jesus.
Receive Blessings for Overcoming
- Jesus promises rewards for those who remain faithful and victorious, including eternal life, a place in His kingdom, and fellowship with Him.
Timeline of Events and Key Details
1977: Ordination of Lee Manhee
- Lee Man-hee (LMH) was reportedly ordained in 1977, marking the beginning of his spiritual leadership.
1979: Letters to the Seven Angels (Messengers) of the Tabernacle Temple
- Letters were addressed to the seven messengers of the Tabernacle Temple, drawing a parallel to the letters in Revelation.
- The seven messengers are likened to the island of Patmos (Revelation 1:9):
- Set Apart: They were separated from the Christian world, described as a “spiritual sea.”
- Apostleship and Covenant: These messengers became apostles after making a covenant with God, a pivotal moment in their journey
1969: Breaking of the 3.5-Year Covenant
- In November 1969, the covenant made with God was reportedly broken.
- This event is significant in the timeline, shaping the spiritual trajectory of the messengers.
1975: Period of Destruction
- Introduction of the destroyer, Mr. Oh, referred to by various symbolic names:
-
- Nicolas, Balaam, Earth Beast, Wormwood Star, 8th King, etc.
-
- This period marked a time of upheaval and spiritual destruction within the community.

Does witness Moon know Pastor Baek Dong-seop?I don’t know the answer at all. Witness Moon founded Stewardship Education and took charge of all matters, but do you not know Pastor Baek Dong-seop? Answer Yes. This person has absolutely nothing to do with the Stewardship Training Center. Question: Have you never heard of Pastor Baek Dong-seop, who was associated with the Stewardship Training Center when it was there? Answer: I only know that he is a pastor at the joint venture, but he has nothing to do with the Stewardship Training Center. Question Answer Question Answer Have all the seven shepherds from the Stewardship Training Center ever entered the tabernacle? no. Stewardship Church does not have 7 members, but I was able to invite pastors like my friends Park Seong-hwan and Kim Jeong-du when we held seminars. There is no set number of people. In the first place, there was no set number of pastors belonging to the Stewardship Training Center. yes. Have all the people who are said to be members of the Moon Stewardship Training Center ever entered the Tabernacle Temple? There is no answer. There is no such thing as belonging to the Stewardship Training Center. Moon: Are you saying that there is no concept of affiliation itself? Answer: Yes. Defendant Moon’s Shincheonji Church of Jesus said that seven shepherds from the Stewardship Training Center had infiltrated the Tabernacle Temple for 42 months and that they were giving untruths. Is this true? I don’t understand that at all. The problem is that people involved in the Stewardship Training Center have never come to the Tabernacle Temple in the first place, other than as witnesses. Answer Yes. |
No proof of the letter receivers had gotten any letters
If the letter claiming victory over the Destroyer was sent in 1979 or 1980, as stated in early Shincheonji pamphlets and books, it raises further questions. By that time, all the messengers, except for Mr. Yoo, had already left the First Tabernacle. Additionally, Lee Man-Hee himself left the Recreation Church in March 1980.
A deleted interview with Kim Dae-won, who was active with Lee Man-Hee at the time, also contradicts the narrative. Kim testified that Lee Man-Hee never sent such a letter and was never beaten by members of the Tabernacle Temple.

One messenger left in 1967, three left in 1969, and the remaining three departed in 1980.
By September 1980, all had resigned, marking 14 years since the covenant was established. |

In the spring of 1980, Samuel, Michael, and Tyras (spiritual names) left after witnessing Oh Pyeong-ho standing on the podium. |
But SCJ teaches it as though all 7 messengers have received a letter of repentance, and also portrays it as a Revelation movie!

Content of the Letters for Yoo Jae-Yeol
Letters sent to Yoo Jae Yool
There is no record or evidence of Lee Man-Hee writing to the seven messengers during the period in question.
The only surviving testimony, based on interviews, indicates that he wrote something to Mr. Yoo in the 1980s.
Shincheonji teaches that because Mr. Yoo represents all seven messengers, any letter sent by Lee Man-Hee to Mr. Yoo is considered equivalent to a letter sent to all of them.
(If this claim were true, it would directly expose inaccuracies in the Revelation movie and create a contradiction with the teachings in Revelation 2-3.)
However, for the sake of argument, let’s consider Shincheonji’s perspective that “physical fulfillments must be understood in three dimensions” and assume that Lee Man-Hee did send a letter to Mr. Yoo.
How does Yoo Jae-yeol, who received the letter himself, talk about it? He did not know Lee Manhee at the time.
“Lee Manhee wrote to me and my church members several times from the early 80s to 85s, inviting us to work with him, but we never responded because I didn’t know who he was..Nevertheless, I wonder if Lee Manhee’s continued his association with the Tabernacle Temple… is due to a needy interpretation, because Lee’s method of leading his church forward isn’t biblical.”
An interview with Yoo Jae-yeol in Hdjongkyo
As for his relationship with Lee Manhee, he says that he learned from him, but Mr. Yoo never taught him directly.
He only remembers that LMH was evangelized in a faith village (Olive tree church) and belonged to the Tabernacle Temple from 1968-1971, and that after he left the faith, he was accused of slanderous handouts against him and the church, and was detained and imprisoned, but he does not know anything else.
From early 80s & early 85s, LMH sent nearly 200 letters inviting him to work with him, saying that he would fulfill any requests and give him any special treatment.
However, Mr. Yoo never replied because he did not know who he was.
Below is Mr Yoo’s written statement to SBS.
“I want to tell you that the doctrine of the Tabernacle Temple that I created in 1966 was clearly a false doctrine. At that time, I thought the end was coming on a specific date.I also thought I was the saviour.(…)”
“I’ll also tell you about my relationship with LMH. He was in the Tabernacle Temple for a while, and then there was a lawsuit and accusations against each other in the 70s, and that’s all.”
According to Mr. Yoo’s account, LMH did not send a letter of repentance to the person he referred to as an apostle, nor did he judge through 7 trumpets, but rather he sent a letter asking him to work with him.
And Mr. Yoo testified that he never gave any answer because he did not know who Lee Man-hee was.
Furthermore, the interview with Elder Kim Dae-won conducted by Christian Portal News also testifies to the same thing.
And as Mr. Yoo and Hong Jong-hyo (1 of the 2 witnesses) said, “if he sent the letter in the 80s, the Tabernacle Temple and 7 Messengers are already gone, and the Tabernacle Temple has become the Isaac church.”
A summary of the Chairman's activities from 1971 to 1980
A summary of the Chairman’s activities from 1971 to 1980
What members were taught in the SCJ’s physical fulfilment training sessions:
- I (Lee Manhee) was persecuted for reporting the un-savoury things that happened in the 1971 Tabernacle Temple and returned to Cheongdo (his hometown) that way (Look Korea event), and he also taught that he had to cover his torch with a pillow at night to extinguish it and escape.
- Farmed in Cheongdo for 7 years and participated in the Saemaul movement (새마을운동=new country movement conducted by Korean government)
- 1977: Ordained and instructed by spiritual man (Jesus) and came to Gwacheon
- 1979: Sent a letter to 7 messengers
- spring of 1980: Received a open scroll
What really happened in Reality
Claim: Lee Manhee was persecuted for speaking out against the Tabernacle Temple
Reality: He returned to his hometown (Cheongdo) NOT because he was persecuted, but because he sued 2 out of the 7 messengers (Mr. Yool and Kim Chang-do) in 1971 for being swindled and robbed of all his wealth. Then later testified that the 7 messengers were the first tabernacle prepared by God.

In February 67, Lee Man-hee from Cheongdo entered the Tabernacle Temple and left, claiming that he had been robbed of his property and swindled.
On 7 September 71, Lee Man-hee sued Yoo Jae-yeol and Kim Chang-do on more than 40 charges and went to trial. |

Not only did they take over the houses, farms, and rice fields of the believers by mortgaging them, but they also took away the factories of the believers through violence and forcibly abused the female believers. Even before Yoo Jae-yeon’s arrest, the tabernacle temple was already on its way to decline. In 1967, Lee Man-hee, from Cheongdo, Gyeongsangbuk-do, left the Temple of the Tabernacle, claiming that he had been defrauded after losing all his assets, and in April 1970, Mr. Shin, a reserve colonel who was a powerful member of the 1st Temple of the Tabernacle, defected, and Angel Solomon, who was one of the 7 angels, left his lover and became the leader of the cult. Due to a love triangle with Yoo Jae-yeol, the Tabernacle…
He also escaped from . Due to various circumstances, the 7 angels were canceled and many believers deserted. In addition, in November 1969, the theory of the last days judgment was wrong, and so a large number of believers deserted. Yoo Jae-yeol said that after 1,260 days from March 1, 1966, when he claimed to have received the so-called scroll revelation, the world would become a sea of fire, and that in order to survive this tribulation, he would have to enter the tabernacle, and the last time would be November 1, 1969. However, ironically, that was the heyday of the Tabernacle Temple. |
In addition to the above three pieces of evidence, the interview of Kim Chang-do(vice leader of the Tabernacle temple, spiritual name Michael) below also confirms that he was accused and went to the Anyang Police Station. Then, in September of the same year, Lee Man-hee charged him. Below is a capture of the interview with Kim Chang-do.
~ Not only that, but (redacted) also took away the factories of the members with violence and humiliated(or raped) female members.
Even before Mr. Yoo was detained, the Tabernacle was already in decline.
In 1967, Lee Man-hee from Cheongdo, North Gyeongsang Province, left the Tabernacle temple, claiming that he had been robbed of his property and swindled, and in April 1970, Mr Shin, a reservist colonel who had been a prominent member of the Tabernacle temple, left.
(spiritual name)Solomon, one of the 7 messengers, also left the Tabernacle temple because of a love triangle with the leader, Yoo Jae-yeol, over his girlfriend.
For various reasons, the Seven Angels(messengers) were disbanded and many members left.
Then, in November 1969, the church’s end-of-the-world eschatology failed, and many members left.
Yoo claimed to have received the so-called open scroll revelation on 1 March 1966, which said that after 1260 days, the world would become a hell fire, and that he had to enter the Tabernacle Temple to survive this tribulation, and that the date was 1 November 1969.
Are the seven messengers really the end-time promised preliminary tabernacle (first tabernacle)?
Are the seven messengers really the end-time promised preliminary tabernacle (first tabernacle)?
Were the seven messengers of the Tabernacle Temple, who were supposed to receive the letter, truly the “first tabernacle” (preliminary tabernacle) mentioned in Revelation? Were they genuinely part of God’s organization, distinct from the corrupted church symbolized as the “sea” in the parables?
If the Tabernacle Temple was not the prophesied first tabernacle of the end times as described in the Bible, then the entire narrative of Shincheonji’s history is fundamentally fictional.
Without the establishment of the first tabernacle, the concept of a second tabernacle cannot exist.
The following outlines the core of their doctrine. Let’s examine whether it is truly biblical.
1) We are the seven angels who made a covenant with the Holy Spirit of God.
2) We will fulfil our covenant in three and a half years (42 months). → Time of the end
3) Cheonggyeongsan (Mt. Cheonggye in Gwacheon) will be the sanctuary of the (physical) end after three and a half years. → time of the end.

Tabernacle Temple and the Time Limited Eschatology

The prophecies of the Bible and the beginning and end of the tabernacle temple and the main sermons of the seven angels of the upper temple are as follows. 1. We are seven angels who have received direct revelation from God, and we are not ordinary shepherds who belong to the world and have learned from men (Galatians 1:10-12). 2. We are the shepherds who made a covenant with God in blood (Exodus 19:5-6, disclosure of the covenant offering), 3. We are the seven stars in the hand of Jesus recorded in Revelation chapter 1 (Revelation 1:20). 4. We are the four living creatures before the throne of God, seven (4:6-8). 5. The covenant and our mission is for three and a half years. Three and a half years later, the world ends in the third war, and we take refuge in a secret room on Cheonggyesan Mountain. After that, the world becomes ours (Isaiah 2:19, Chapter 6:12-16), 6. We went to the underground secret room of Cheonggyesan Mountain. If the covenant is not fulfilled after three and a half years, we will quit our ministry and drown in the Cheonggye Reservoir (Dan. 12:7). 7. We are the first people in the world to be saved from the tent of Judah. The ruler’s staff does not leave Judah until Shiloh comes (Genesis 49:10; Joshua 12:7). 8. Since we are doing the work of the two olive trees (Yoo In-gu, Yoo Jae-yeol), Shiloh In-gu Yu will return and receive the altar to work (Chapter 11:3, Genesis 49:1). 9. General seminaries are factories that produce shepherds, and those shepherds are the dogs mentioned in the Bible. Anyone who follows a dog goes straight to hell (Isaiah 56:9). Believers who were hungry for the Word gathered from all over to hear this unfamiliar sermon. They 100% believed the words of the seven angels, prepared blankets and rice flour to go to the secret room, and waited for November 30, 1969, when God’s covenant was said to be fulfilled. However, even when that day came, the covenant was not fulfilled, and the promised day passed and passed, but neither the third war nor the end of the world occurred. Because of this, even the angels, like the saints, withered in their faith and fell into temptation, and in the midst of strife with each other, they left the tabernacle one by one (Lamentations 2:14). Concerns of the Religious World “I am not the spirit of an ordinary prophet, but the Holy Spirit of the Lord; the word I speak is law. I will command King Emmanuel, and King Emmanuel shall command the angels, and the angels shall command the people, and the people shall command the angels. Obey, and the angels obey King Emmanuel, and King Emmanuel obey me. If you believe in and keep this covenant and the promises delivered by the prophets and apostles, everything you promised will be fulfilled within three and a half years, and if you do not keep it, Otherwise, you will reap what you have given (spirit) upon your head (Revelation 3:2, 2:5).” The seve eschatol Let’s con (salvatio) The eight people who made a blood covenant with God, ‘Tabernacle Temple’, came down from the mountain after receiving their spiritual name and mission. Then, they rented a thatched roof at Makgye 2-ri, at the foot of Cheonggyesan Mountain, and lived there according to God’s revelation. They began holding weekly worship services with a sign saying ‘Temple of the Tabernacle’ (Exodus 25:8, Revelation 13:6). The construction of the temple began on June 1, 1966, and was completed on June 24, 1966, based on the words of Haggai Chapter 2. The eight people who completed the worship and sermon temple were 7 years old. From March, the Ark of the Covenant containing the Book of Covenant was placed on the altar, and everyone went up to the altar to worship for two to three hours. |
The seven messengers are specifying the time and place of salvation, making it a time limited eschatology.
Let’s compare that to what Jesus said in the Bible about the coming of the kingdom of God.
Luke 17:20~21 – And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
Luke 17:23 – And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them.
Acts 1:6~7- When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
According to Jesus’ prophecy, the coming of the kingdom of God has no known time or date, and its location is solely determined by God’s authority.
Wherever it may be, Jesus explicitly instructs us not to go when such claims arise.
Any church or group in any era that deviates from the teachings of the Bible can be considered a cult. This includes those who set specific times or places for the fulfillment of God’s kingdom.
Interestingly, even Shincheonji once taught that groups promoting “time-limited eschatology” were cults.

From Shincheonji’s perspective of ‘time-limited eschatology’ as a cult, the Tabernacle temple was a time-limited eschatological cult from its beginning, following a three-and-a-half year physical end.
Then, in November 1969, three and a half years after the promised date, the prophecy failed, and many of the believers and some of the seven messengers departed. They also specified the place of salvation, predicting that when the world burned, only those who gathered in the secret chamber of Cheonggyesan would be saved as the New Heaven and New Earth. Could this place, which preached doctrines that differed from the Bible and committed many lawless acts, really be God’s chosen end-time preparatory tabernacle? And by the way, their doctrines were not new to them, either, as they were raised in the huts. They already had a lot of similarities to the doctrines of the cults that came before them. And there’s a lot of that in the Shincheonji doctrine of receiving the book. We’ll look at this in the chapter “Doctrinal and Other Issues and Lies”. – If you want to read it right away, you can do so by clicking the link below. |
