Lesson 04 – Distinguishing Good vs Evil, Part One
– “The serpent was more cunning than any other part of God’s creation. The serpent was devious, conniving, and scheming, always looking to deceive.” (Genesis 3:1) – The serpent represents Satan.
– “Revelation 20:2 – “He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.” – The ancient serpent represents the Devil or Satan.
– “Opposer, adversary, Satan, devil all mean a very similar thing. They refer to qualities and actions that Satan embodies as he tries to undermine goodness.”
– “Isaiah 14:12-15 – “Morning star” is a title used to refer to Lucifer in some Bible versions. Lucifer means “light bearer” or “shining one.” – Lucifer represents Satan.
– “Ezekiel 28:11-19 – This prophecy is about the king of Tyre, but it seems to be referring to more than just a human king. It refers to Satan before his fall, when he was still without sin.”
– “Proverbs 16:8 – “Better a little with righteousness than much gain with injustice.” – Referring to the sin of pride and greed that led to Satan’s fall.
Lesson 05 – Distinguishing Good vs Evil Part Two
– “Satan is a liar and deceiver. Lying is intrinsic to his nature.” (John 8:44)
– “Satan prompted Judas. To prompt means to instigate or encourage someone to do something.” (John 13:2)
– “Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)
Class 06 – Those Who Belong to God and Those Who Belong to Satan
– “Satan “masquerades as an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:13-15) = Satan pretends and disguises himself intentionally.
– “None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” (1 Corinthians 2:6-8) = Satan does not understand the parables or prophecies.
– Satan tempting Jesus to jump from the temple (Matthew 4:5-7) = Satan twists and distorts God’s Word.
– “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers” (2 Corinthians 4:4) = Satan’s deception prevents understanding of the gospel.
– “Aren’t we right in saying that you are a Samaritan and demon-possessed?” (John 8:47-48) = Lies and false accusations spread about Jesus, as Satan persecutes God’s people.
