Glossary of Terms - M

All terms listed herein are defined according to their usage within the context of the SCJ Bible Study.

Maddening Wine of Adulteries Satan’s food, representing lies and false doctrines that intoxicate all nations. It represents Satan’s lies and false teachings, which intoxicate and confuse people, making them unable to discern truth. It is associated with Babylon, which makes all nations drunk. It appears similar to true wine but is corrupted. Deuteronomy 32:31-33, Jeremiah 51:7, Revelation 17:1-5, Revelation 18:2-3.Bible Verses: Revelation 18:2-3. Referenced Lesson: 18.

Male Child (Figurative) The one who overcomes, or New John. He will rule all nations with an iron scepter. Bible Verses: Revelation 12:5. Referenced Lesson: 118.

Malachi An Old Testament prophet whose book contains prophecies about the coming of messengers and Elijah.

Manna (Figurative) Spiritual food; at the first coming, it was Jesus’ flesh and blood (His words), and at the second coming, it is hidden manna (prophecy and fulfillment of the New Testament). Bible Verses: John 6, Revelation 2:17. Referenced Lesson: 75.

Manna (Hidden Manna, Figurative) Represents the Word of God that gives life. “Hidden manna” refers to the opened or newly revealed Word, specifically the explanations of Revelation. Only some of it is given, as it is only clearly explained once it is fulfilled. It is contrasted with the devil’s food. Revelation 2:17, John 6:48-55.

Mark of the Beast (Satan’s Mark) Represents Satan’s lies and falsehoods, which prevent individuals from buying (listening) and selling (speaking) God’s Word of truth. It is not a physical mark, but a spiritual one. It is also identified by the number 666. Receiving the mark on the forehead means being appointed/anointed by the beast with false doctrines. Receiving it on the right hand means acknowledging them. The number 666 refers to Mr. Oh, who is like Solomon, accepting treasures (false doctrines) from Gentiles. Revelation 13:16-17, 1 Kings 10:14-15, Revelation 13:18. Referenced Lesson: 48.

Marriage (Figurative) The symbolic union between a spirit (God/Christ) and flesh (His people/church), becoming one in purpose and will. The wedding banquet of the Lamb is where God’s people become one with Him, occurring after Babylon’s judgment.

Marriage with Jesus The wedding banquet of the Lamb where God’s people become one with Him, occurring after Babylon’s judgment. It requires preparation, symbolizing by the lamp, oil, and wedding clothes. The spiritual food consumed at this banquet are words, and the birds are martyrs enjoying the meal. Revelation 19:7.

Marriage with Satan A contrasting event to the marriage with Jesus, where Satan keeps people drunk with his maddening wine, preventing them from truly marrying Jesus. Revelation 18:23.

Martyrs Those who died for their faith in Jesus, who will participate in the first resurrection. Their cry for vengeance will be fulfilled through God’s judgment. They are the “birds and spirits of the air” who enjoy the wedding banquet of the Lamb. Revelation 6:9-11, Revelation 12:11, Revelation 19:17-18. Referenced Lesson: 108.

Master (Jesus as) Jesus is the master who returns and appoints a faithful servant to distribute food at the proper time.

Mastering Revelation The act of thoroughly understanding the book of Revelation without adding or subtracting from it. It means becoming a “walking Bible.”

Matthias The disciple who replaced Judas Iscariot among the twelve apostles.

Maturity (Spiritual) Achieved through enduring trials and tribulations, leading to completion and perfection. It involves understanding prophecy and fulfillment. The place of maturity is Mount Zion. A state of spiritual growth characterized by understanding, independence, selflessness, and the ability to discern. It is measured by the type of spiritual food consumed. 1 Corinthians 3:1-4, Hebrews 5:14, 1 Corinthians 13:8-12. Referenced Lesson: 93.

Meat (Figurative) Represents people. Ezekiel 24:3-6. Referenced Lesson: 25.

Mediator One who facilitates a covenant or agreement between two parties. Moses was the mediator of the Old Covenant, and Jesus is the mediator of the New Covenant.

Meeting The habit of meeting together is crucial for encouragement and remaining steadfast in faith. It is one of the seven essential principles believers must maintain (SEEVMO).

Merchants (Figurative) Represent evangelists who make their living by selling the merchandise (false teachings) of Babylon.

Messengers Those who prepare the way for the Lord’s second coming. The 7 stars are messengers/angels of the 7 churches. Jesus sent His angel (New John) to give testimony for the churches. Revelation 1:20, Revelation 22:16.

Messiah (First Coming) Jesus, who fulfilled all Old Testament prophecies concerning Him. People struggled to recognize Him because they misunderstood prophecy and had preconceived expectations. The promised prophet, the Son of God, who came to fulfill Old Testament prophecies, establish the New Covenant, eliminate sin, and bring salvation. He is the true Vine, the Light of the world, the Lamb of God, and the Living Stone. Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:18-23, Isaiah 53, Psalm 22, John 19:28-30, Hebrews 9:26-29, Revelation 20:1-3. Michael An archangel who fights against the dragon (Satan) in the spiritual world. Revelation 12:7.

Milestone into Sea God taking a giant rock and throwing it into the sea, representing how Babylon disappears and exists no more.

Milk (Figurative) Represents elementary teachings or basic understanding of God’s Word. Believers must move beyond spiritual milk to solid food to mature. Hebrews 5:12-14, 1 Corinthians 3:1-3.

Mind (Place of Law) God’s desire to write His laws directly into the minds and hearts of His people in the New Covenant. Hebrews 8:10.

Miracles Extraordinary events performed by God or His chosen servants, often to draw attention to His work.

Moral Teachings (Biblical Content) One of the four main types of content in the Bible. These are instructions on how believers should live, operate, and act, easy to grasp but often difficult to practice. 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Matthew 7:1-27.

Morning Star (Figurative) Represents Jesus. Promised as a blessing to the one who overcomes. Revelation 22:16, Revelation 2:28. Referenced Lesson: 102.

Moses The one sent by God during the Old Testament era to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and become the standard bearer of the law and the first covenant. He was shown heaven in a vision to build a copy and shadow on earth. Referenced Lesson: 98, 68.

Most Holy Place The inner room of Moses’ Tabernacle where the Ark of the Covenant was located; figuratively, represents Jesus at the first coming. Bible Verses: Hebrews 9:1-9. Referenced Lesson: 28.

Mount Ararat Where Noah’s ark came to rest after the flood. Genesis 9.

Mount Sinai Where Moses received the Law and covenant from God.

Mount Zion God’s kingdom on earth, the place of salvation and peace. It is the new heaven and new earth, the barn, the basket, or the ship. It has a specific structure that replicates heaven in the spiritual world.  It is a church, not a building. It has an orderly structure with a Promised Pastor, 12 tribe leaders, 24 elders, 7 inspectors, and 4 departments. It is identified as Shincheonji, Church of Jesus, Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony. Isaiah 2:1-4, Psalm 43:3, Psalm 132:12, Psalm 133:1-3, Hebrews 12:22-23, Revelation 14:1-3, Revelation 21:1. Referenced Lesson: 44, 63, 103.

Mountain (Figurative) Represents a church, temple, or organization.There are three types: mountain of betrayal (once God’s, now fallen), destroying mountain (Satan’s, brings destruction), and mountain of salvation (God’s dwelling place, where peace is established). Believers are commanded to flee to the mountain of salvation at the Second Coming. It is a place where many elements of God’s creation (clouds, rain, springs, rivers, trees, animals) dwell together harmoniously. Matthew 24:15-16, Genesis 19:17, Isaiah 55:10-11, Isaiah 2:1-4, Isaiah 60:14, Revelation 14:1-3, Psalms 43:3. Referenced Lesson: 44.

Movie Script (Revelation) Revelation is compared to a movie script, containing details of characters, words, places, and events that must take place and become tangible realities when fulfilled. Just as a movie script can show future events, flashbacks, and present actions, Revelation is written in a non-linear way, with “after this” indicating the sequence. Jesus is the “executive producer” of this movie.

Mourning (Figurative) A physical manifestation of spiritual pain and sorrow that will cease in God’s Kingdom. Revelation 21:4.

Mr. Hong Identified as one of the two witnesses mentioned in Revelation 11. He is also identified as the “reed like a measuring rod.” Revelation 11.

Mr. Oh The reality of the beast from the earth, the false pastor Wormwood, and Nicholas. He was an educator with extensive theological background who introduced false teachings (food sacrificed to idols) into the Tabernacle Temple. He is also associated with the number 666. Revelation 8:10-11, Revelation 13:11-17, Revelation 2.

Mr. Tak The reality of the beast from the sea, the prostitute, the destroyer of Revelation 9, 13, and 16, and the king of the locusts. He was the director of all pastors in South Korea during that time. Revelation 9, Revelation 13, Revelation 16, Revelation 17:5.

Mr. Yoo The representative pastor of the Tabernacle Temple and one of the seven stars. He departed from the Tabernacle Temple to attend theology school in the U.S., during which Mr. Oh and Mr. Tak took control and corrupted the place.

Mustard Seed (Parable of) Represents the kingdom of heaven growing from something small into a large tree where birds (spirits) perch in its branches (Jesus’ organization). Bible Verses: Matthew 13:31-32. Referenced Lesson: 17.

Mystery Revelation contains three mysteries: betrayal, destruction, and salvation. Something that has not been revealed yet; intentionally hidden by God to protect His secrets from the enemy. The three mysteries of Revelation are: Seven stars and seven golden lampstands (Revelation 1:20), the prostitute and the beast (Revelation 17:5-7), and the Seventh Trumpet (Revelation 10:7). Bible Verses: 1 Corinthians 2:6-8, Colossians 2:1-3. Referenced Lesson: 9, 10.

Mystery of God Accomplished when the seventh angel sounds his trumpet. Can be summarized as the mystery of eternal life. Revelation 10:7.

Mystery of Betrayal (Rebellion) The mystery of the seven stars and seven golden lampstands. Revelation 1:20.

Mystery of the Seven Stars and the Seven Golden Lampstands Refers to the hidden identity of the seven stars (angels of the seven churches) and the seven golden lampstands (the seven churches themselves), which are revealed later in Revelation. Revelation 1:20.

Mystery of the Seventh Trumpet Refers to the mystery related to the work of salvation and the transformation of the kingdom of the world into the kingdom of God. Revelation 11:15.
